Different types of hearing protection used in noise filled environments

Why Hearing Protection is Important

Loud noise can be detrimental to hearing. The hair cells inside the inner ear, which are responsible for hearing, are extremely sensitive to changes and can be damaged when the noise gets too loud. Hearing loss as a result of loud noise exposure is irreversible and can happen at any age. In fact, more and more teens and young adults are experiencing hearing loss due to loud noise exposure from headphone usage.

Hearing loss can have a negative effect on well-being if not managed properly and within a timely manner. When left untreated, hearing loss makes it difficult to effectively hear and communicate. As a result, individuals may withdraw from social situations, isolating themselves. This can lead to depression, anxiety, a loss in speech comprehension, and even a decline in cognitive abilities.

To be proactive of your hearing health, it is important to keep the volume down and wear some form of ear protection, such as earplugs.

Hearing Protection

At Rainier Hearing, we offer custom hearing protection to keep your ears and your hearing safe. Custom hearing protection is the best way to be proactive about your hearing health. Hearing protection should be worn anytime you are in an environment where the noise is loud and could potentially damage your hearing. Whether you are hunting, at the shooting range, at a concert, or use power tools, you should wear hearing protection.

We also offer musicians ear plugs which are a great way to protect your hearing if you are a musician or attend music events regularly. For live music goers, it’s important to protect your hearing but you also want to hear the music being played. Musician ear plugs and in-ear monitors are a great option as they allow you to still hear the music while keeping your ears safe from loud sounds.
